Packers vs. Jets: Preview, Prediction

Fans have grown accustomed to the Packers dominating opposing teams and easing through the regular season. This season that is not the case, as the Packers are not as good as the last few years.

Aaron Rodgers is still an above-average quarterback, but he can no longer carry a team on his back. The Packers lack explosive playmakers at receiver and don’t lean enough on their rushing attack. They also have had some questionable play calling so far this season by coach Matt LaFleur.

Defensively, the Packers are good but not great. They have done a fine job but haven’t lived up to the expectations most set before the season.

The Packers (3-2) are coming off a disappointing loss to the New York Giants (4-1) last week in London. The Giants outscored the Packers 17-2 in the second half, with the Packers’ only two points coming on an intentional safety by the Giants with 11 seconds left.

The stunning defeat was a week after the Packers nearly lost in overtime to the New England Patriots, who played most of the game with a rookie third-string QB.

On Sunday, the Packers will try to regain momentum against the New York Jets (3-2) at Lambeau Field. The Packers are a flawed team, while the Jets feature talent and are exceeding expectations.

The Packers need to do a better job of playing aggressively. Jets QB Zach Wilson struggles under pressure and is prone to mistakes. The Packers must slow down running back Breece Hall and force the Jets into obvious passing situations.

The Packers will win. But at this point, nothing would surprise me.

Prediction: Packers 24, Jets 20
