Packers vs. Raiders: Preview, Prediction
- Updated: October 7, 2023
Monday Night Football will feature two teams needing a win as the Green Bay Packers (2-2) take on the Las Vegas Raiders (1-3) in Las Vegas.
Last week, the Detroit Lions embarrassed the Packers at Lambeau Field in a battle for the top spot in the NFC North. The Packers have started games slowly this season, with poor first halfs. The Packers will try to put together a complete performance against the Raiders.
The Raiders enter the game in a must-win situation. Despite plenty of talent, they are struggling and desperately need to win to stay in the mix for a playoff spot.
QB Jimmy Garoppolo missed the Raiders’ last game due to a concussion. He will play on Monday, giving the Raiders a better shot against a talented Packers defense.
Offensively, the Raiders’ running attack has been ineffective, as starting running back Josh Jacobs is averaging 2.7 yards per carry. They boast a talented group of receivers, headlined by former Packer Davante Adams. The Packers’ defense will have to step up and force Garoppolo to make mistakes, as he’s averaging two interceptions per game.
The Packers’ offense needs to put together a full game. Coach Matt LaFleur has made questionable calls throughout the season, while the offensive line has struggled to give QB Jordan Love time to throw in the pocket. Maxx Crosby could be a problem for the Packers’ pass protection, as he’s one of the best pass rushers in the game and averaging one sack per game.
Right now, you don’t know what to expect from the Packers. They are the better team, and I’m taking them in a close one on the road.
Prediction: Packers 24, Raiders 20
