Lucroy vetos trade to Indians
- Updated: July 30, 2016
UPDATE: On Sunday morning Jonathan Lucroy vetoed the trade to the Cleveland Indians, officially cancelling the deal.
After weeks of speculation, the Milwaukee Brewers have dealt All-Star catcher Jonathan Lucroy to the Cleveland Indians for three prospects, including Cleveland’s No. 6 prospect, catcher Francisco Mejia, according to reports.
The Brewers are also receiving the Indians No. 12 prospect, shortstop Yu-Cheng Chang and No. 22 prospect, outfielder Greg Allen.
The deal is still pending Lucroy’s approval.
Mejia is currently hitting .347 with Class-A Lynchburg, where he is on an active 42-game hitting streak.
A two-time All-Star, Lucroy is batting .300 with 13 homers and 50 RBIs. He has a $4 million salary this year as part of a contract that includes a $5.25 million team option for 2017.
