After a tough game against Loyola, the Milwaukee Panthers will return to action this Monday as they are on the road to face Davidson. Both teams will be looking for their first win of the season, as they were defeated in their opening game.

Last season the Wildcats came to Milwaukee and the Panthers were able to get the impressive win at home. It was a loud and exciting environment as the Panthers were able to knock of the eventual NCAA Tournament team 73-68.

Davidson is coming off of a 111-77 loss on the road to #4 Duke, who was just too much for the Wildcats to handle. They struggled from three-point range making only three of their 21 attempts, but were still able to shoot 41.9 percent from the field. Davidson was able to do an exceptional job from the free throw line making 22 of their 25 attempts. This could be a key for them against Milwaukee, if there are a lot of fouls called like there was in both the Panthers and the Wildcats first games of the season.

One player the Panthers will need to keep their eye on is senior forward, De’Mon Brooks who was selected as the Southern Conference Preseason Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Against Duke he scored a game-high 24 points on seven of nine shooting, including 10 of 12 from the free throw line, and also led the team with seven rebounds.

Davidson uses a smaller lineup featuring Brooks and then four guards. These players are Brian Sullivan, Tyler Kalinoski, Tom Droney and Chris Czerapowicz.

The starting lineup for the Panthers will probably be the same as it was opening night with Steve McWhorter, Jordan Aaron and Thierno “BoBo” Niang at the three guard spots, and JJ Panoske and Matt Tiby starting down low. Austin Arians and Kyle Kelm will probably be the first two off the bench, especially after both having solid performances against Loyola.

The Milwaukee Panthers will need to do a better job of taking care of the ball, after turning it over 18 times last game, if they want to get a quality win on the road. Making free throws will be a key for both teams in this game because of the referees calling a lot more fouls this season due to the rule change. This will be another loud and difficult matchup for both teams, but who ever is able to stay out of foul trouble, while doing the little things right will win this game.

***The Black and Gold Club will be having a view party in Milwaukee at the Black Rose for who ever wants to come and watch the game. You can find more information here.
