Panthers face Wright State at home

Conferences games have begun and the Milwaukee Panthers men’s soccer team will finally be returning home. After being on the road for 16 days, the Panthers (8-0-1) will face the Wright State Raiders (3-4-1) at home this Saturday night in a Horizon League matchup.

The Raiders were picked to finish sixth in the preseason Horizon League poll, and have lived up to those expectations so far. They started off the Horizon League conference with a 2-0 win at home against Valparaiso, but they have not had the same success on the road. Wright State has struggled with a record of 1-3-1 away from home, including loses to Robert Morris and Duke.

While not everything has been great for the Raiders, one player to keep your eye on is sophomore Brett Elder. Although he is only a sophomore, he has not played like one at all. He is the reigning Newcomer of the Year award winner and was a Horizon League First-Team selection last season. He also leads the team with nine points on four goals and an assist this season.

Although Wright State has not had much success on the road, they are not a team to take lightly. This will be a fun and competitive matchup, but Milwaukee’s home field advantage will be the difference in this Horizon League contest.
