Panthers face Ragin’ Cajuns in Las Vegas

Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns (1-2) vs. Milwaukee Panthers (1-3)
Location: MGM Grand – Las Vegas, Nevada
Time: 5:00 p.m. CST
Broadcast: Radio – WISN-AM1130

It hasn’t been an easy start to the season for the Milwaukee Panthers as they have started the season 1-3 and are on a two game losing streak. The Panthers will look to pounce back into the win column, when they face the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns in the MGM Grand Main Event in Las Vegas on Monday.

This is the first time these two programs will meet, and it will be a highly contested matchup as both teams look to end their winless droughts. After starting the season with a win, the Ragin’ Cajuns have dropped two straight games, including a 105-80 defeat to Auburn last Friday.

Louisiana-Lafayette has been extremely effective on the offensive end, averaging 72.7 points per game on 49.7 percent shooting from the floor. Only one player is scoring in double digits per game for the Ragin’ Cajuns, as many players have contributed, with seven different players averaging at least 5.0 points per contest.

Forward Brian Williams is Louisiana-Lafayette’s leading scorer, averaging 12.7 ppg, while also registering team-high 6.0 rebounds per game.

Expect head coach Rob Jeter to use the same starting lineup he has used in their first four games featuring guards Steve McWhorter, Akeem Springs, JeVon Lyle and forwards Matt Tiby and J.J. Panoske.

This is an important game for the Panthers, as they search for their second win of the season. In all four of the Panthers games this season, they have gotten off to a slow start because they settle for jump shots instead of attacking down low offensively. With the Ragin’ Cajuns only having three active players who stand 6-foot-7 or taller, it will be key for the Panthers to get the ball inside.

Milwaukee hasn’t put together a complete performance this season, but if they are able to continue taking care of the ball while attacking down low offensively, the Panthers will have an excellent chance at picking up the victory.
