Panthers are headed to Tennessee

After talking to Milwaukee Panthers head baseball coach Scott Doffek today, he has informed me that his squad will be headed to Tennessee this weekend to face Austin Peay and Akron University.

“Unfortunately we weren’t able to find a place to go to last week, and this week we will be going to Tennessee now,” Doffek said. “We will still be able to get our games in which is good, hopeful to get into the swing of it before conference next week.”

This is a huge sigh of relief for the Panthers whose series last weekend was cancelled against Kansas State and this weekend against UIC, in a non-conference matchup, due to the weather.

“This is a big relief because we need to get some games in before we get into conference, so it is huge that we are going to be going down to Austin Peay,” said Mike Porcaro. “They are good competition and they are going to prepare us well.”

Over the years the Panthers have grown accustom to games either being cancelled or delayed due to the weather, but at this point in the season with conferences games starting in almost a week, they need to play as many games as possible to get ready.

Whether it is the weather or having to practice inside until the snow melts off of Henry Aaron Field, the Panthers will be ready for anything thrown in front of them.

It is really tough being inside, and then having to deal with the cancellation,” said Porcaro.  “It is just another little piece of adversity that we have to deal with, and we are just going to have to battle through it.”
