Packers vs. Lions: Preview and Prediction

Packers-Lions

When: Noon Sunday
Where: Lambeau Field – Green Bay, Wis.
TV: Fox
Series: Packers lead, 98-68-7
Line: Packers by 7

After a sloppy and disheartening loss to the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday, the Green Bay Packers return to Lambeau Field for their first home game of the 2016 season to face the Detroit Lions.

This is the Packers first home game in over a month, having played four straight games (two preseason/two regular season) on the road.

These two teams last met last December at Ford Field in Detroit when the Packers won on a 61-yard game-winning Hail Mary touchdown pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers to tight end Richard Rodgers.

The Packers need to hope some of that magic carries over to this game. With a record of 1-1, the Packers’ offense has struggled mightily, developing no rhythm through the first two weeks of the season.

The offense starts with Aaron Rodgers, and if he can play up to a MVP caliber level, the offense as a whole should produce up to expectation.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Packers secondary needs to play well against a prolific Lions passing attack led by Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford. Detroit has recorded 24 or more points in five of its last seven games.

Weather could play a factor in this game, with scattered thunderstorms expected on Sunday. Expect another nail-biter.

Prediction: Packers 24, Lions 17
