Move downtown has created excitement

It is time to turn the page on the disappointing season a year ago, and look forward to the upcoming 2013-14 season. The Milwaukee Panthers Men’s Basketball team is moving back downtown to the U.S. Cellular Arena, and one way to get ready for this upcoming season is to buy season tickets. Today the Milwaukee Panthers hosted the Men’s Basketball Ticket Open House at the Cell, for new and returning fans.

The open house ran all day and provided returning fans with a chance to reserve the same seats they held downtown in 2011-12 or upgrade their seat location, while new ticket holders were invited to see available seats and place a deposit on tickets for the season. Overall the day and weeks leading up to the event have been a success for ticket sales.

“We have gotten a good response ever since the announcement in July. A lot of people are excited with the move,” said Brian Morgan the Assistant Athletic Director – Fan Experience.

Not only are Panthers trying to create a better basketball atmosphere with the move back to the Cell, but they have also created away to create addition revenge for the program. This season the Panthers are charging a donation for season tickets purchased in the courtside and center court sections. For courtside seats you are required to donate a minimum of $500, while in the center court gold sections, you are required to donate a minimum of $250 and $100 in the black section. While this is a change from previous seasons, fans have reacted in a positive way to it.

“It is something other schools have done around the country. In the research we have done, 89% percent of those basketball schools have a donation. This is strictly a donation to the Panther Fund, which totally goes to help our student athletes not only on the court, but off the court, to help continue our championship success and academic success this program has had,” said Morgan, “People understand it.”

While the Panthers have made multiple changes for this upcoming season, they have kept a few things in mind, the overall success of the program and the fans. By doing this, they are creating a better fan experience and atmosphere for Panther basketball next season. Panther Basketball is just two months away, and with the move back to the U.S. Cellular Arena, people are jumping at the opportunity to be apart of the upcoming season starting with season tickets.
