Milwaukee Brewers: Corey Ray tears meniscus

Milwaukee Brewers outfield prospect Corey Ray underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee on Wednesday.

The fifth overall pick in June’s MLB First-Year Player Draft suffered the injury sliding into third base during an instructional league game in Arizona, according to Brewers farm director Tom Flanagan.

There is no timetable set for Ray’s return, and he will stay in Arizona in order for the team’s medical personal to observe his recovery.

MLB.com ranks Ray as the Brewers No. 2 overall prospect. In his first professional season, Ray played in 60 games between Class A and Class A-Advanced, hitting .239 with five home runs and 17 RBIs.
