The 3rd Man In

Laurie Bell named an All-American

Laurie Bell has had an impressive career so far as a Milwaukee Panther, but this season he raised his game to a completely different level. Not only did he win the Horizon League Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year awards, while being named to the All-Horizon League First-Team for a second straight season, but today he has been named a First Team All-American.

Bell was the Panthers main offensive threat the entire season. This season he had 13 goals, a total of 30 points, and shot the ball 95 times, with 40 of them being on goal. All four numbers were by far the best on the team and in the Horizon League.

His offensive numbers not only showed that he was the best offensive player in the conference, but he was one of the top offensive players in the country. He finished the season ranked ninth in goals and 14th in points in all of college soccer.

Bell becomes only the second player in program history to be named a First Team All-American. The last Panther to have earned this prestigious honor was midfielder Manuel Lagos in 1991.

One thing that is even better for Panther fans is that the junior star will be back next season, as Milwaukee tries to make another trip to the NCAA Tournament. It was a fun season watching Bell play, and after all the success he has had this year, he truly deserved this great honor.
