Jason Kidd is exactly what Bucks needed

Milwaukee Bucks owners Marc Lasry and Wesley Edens stole the headlines this past summer when they acquired Jason Kidd from the Brooklyn Nets to be their new head coach.

This move created a great deal of buzz. Most of the attention was negative however, as fans and sports media members in Wisconsin were displeased with the way Lasry and Edens handled the situation.

Coming off of a horrendous 15-57 season, everyone assumed that they would bring in their own people. However, with Larry Drew still in place as the head coach, fans were irate when the Bucks acquired Kidd without firing Drew first.

This along with Kidd’s lack of head coaching experience, made people question if the new owners really knew what they were doing.

Now through 30 games in the 2014-15 season and the Bucks already matching their win total from a year ago, it appears they were right all along.

The Bucks have become a thrilling team to watch under the direction of Kidd. They are an energetic squad filled with castoffs and youngster who have relished the opportunity to be coached by one of the greatest point guards to ever play the game.

Kidd has changed the culture and attitude of the franchise. Instead of accepting losing, like the Bucks did much of last season, this team has made it known that they have the talent and are capable of being a playoff team.

With 52 games remaining in the season, no one knows if the Bucks can continue to be competitive, but so far there is enthusiasm around the franchise that hasn’t be there since 2001, when they were one win away from the NBA Finals.

It’s too early to tell, but the early results make the decision to acquire Kidd look brilliant. He has brought a winning culture to Milwaukee, and taken a team no one thought would be competitive and made them a playoff contender. He is quickly becoming one of the best coaches in the NBA, and hopefully he will be roaming the Bucks sideline for the years to come.
