D.J. Wilson selected 17th overall by Bucks

D.J. Wilson

D.J. Wilson is the newest member of the Milwaukee Bucks, as he was selected with the 17th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

A power forward, Wilson left Michigan as a redshirt sophomore, where he averaged 11.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. He also shot 37 percent from three-point territory, making 41 threes, and was a solid defender, tallying 57 blocked shots and 20 steals.

At 6-foot-11 and 240 pounds, Wilson has a 7-foot-3 wingspan and has the ability to make an impact on both ends of the court.

Wilson is a big, versatile and athletic player who was expected to go late in the first-round. While he has room to grow, especially defensively, he has a high-ceiling.

Wilson hardly played in his first two seasons at Michigan. As a freshman in 2014-15, he missed most of the season with a knee injury. Then as a redshirt sophomore in 2015-16, Wilson averaged only 6.1 minutes per game.

This was Jon Horst’s first move as the Bucks’ general manager, as he was officially named to the position on June 19.
