The 3rd Man In

Chancellor’s Cup on the line

After winning on Saturday, the Milwaukee Panthers will only have two days to prepare for one of their toughest games of the season. On Tuesday, the Panthers (9-0-1) will be back in action at home, as they take on in-state rival, Green Bay (5-2-3), for the Chancellor’s Cup.

This will be the 43rd meeting between the in-state rivals, and the 37th time they have squared off for the Chancellor’s Cup. Milwaukee is 24-14-4 all-time against Green Bay, and has held the Cup for the past two years. Over the last three meetings, all three games have gone into double overtime, with last season’s matchup ending in a tie.

The Phoenix will not be an easy team for the Panthers to beat, as they have gotten off to a solid start to begin the season. While they have lost to some average teams, they did record a tie against Marquette and have only been shutout twice.

The Phoenix offense has been productive averaging two goals a game to begin the season. They have also had seven different players score at least one goal, but their biggest offensive threat is Sam Krenzien. The senior forward, has recorded 20 points on eight goals and four assists this season.

Although Green Bay has done a good job of finding the back of the net, they have been known to give up multiple goals a game as well. They have allowed four goals in two separate games, and over the course of the season have allowed on average almost two goals a game.

This will definitely play into the Panthers advantage as their offense has been clicking on all cylinders. Over the last three games the Panthers have scored 11 goals, and have averaged almost two and a half goals a game this season.

With the Chancellor’s Cup on the line, this Horizon League match will not disappoint, with two competitive teams looking to add another win to their resume. If Milwaukee’s offense can continue to perform like they have in the last three games, they will have a great chance at holding onto the Cup.
