Brewers trade Will Smith to the Giants

According to reports, the Milwaukee Brewers have dealt left-handed relief pitcher Will Smith to the San Francisco Giants for two players, including right-handed pitching prospect Phil Bickford.

Ranked as the Giants No. 1 prospect and the No. 65 overall prospect in baseball by MLB.com, Bickford was originally selected in the 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft with the 18th overall pick out of the College of Southern Nevada.

In 17 starts between Class A and high Class A, Bickford is 5-6 with a 2.71 ERA and 105 strikeouts in 93 innings in 2016.

A 6-foot-4, 200-pound righty, Bickford throws an exceptional fastball and has an above average slider and changeup.

In the deal the Brewers also acquired 26-year-old catcher Andrew Susac. A former top 100 prospect, Susac has played in 87 major league games between 2014 and 2015. This season Susac has spent the entire year in Triple-A, hitting .273 with six home runs and 36 RBIs.
