Bo Ryan announces his retirement

Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball head coach Bo Ryan has announced his retirement after over 14 years at the school.

Ryan made the announcement following the Badgers 64-49 victory over Texas A&M Corpus Christi Tuesday evening. The Badgers are 7-5 this season.

“After months of conversation with Barry Alvarez and his administrative staff, as well as my wife, Kelly, I have decided that now is the right time to step down from the head coaching position here at Wisconsin,” Ryan said in a statement released by the university.

Associate head coach Greg Gard will assume the title of interim head coach, effectively immediately.

In 14-plus seasons at the school, Ryan has a 364–130 record and has taken his team to the NCAA Tournament in every season. He was named Big Ten Coach of the Year four times, while leading the program to seven Big Ten championships during his tenure.
